Dr. Emília P. Martins

Emília is a professor in the School of Life Sciences. She is fascinated primarily by the evolution of complex and multimodal communication, and is deeply commited to social justice, diversity, equity, and inclusion. Her son, Gabriel Martins, plays the cello, her husband, Mike, is also a scientist, and her extended family is Brazilian.

Piyumika is an Assistant Research Scientist working on our zebrafish project. She is interested in understanding how small changes in the physical environment induce major shifts in behavioral strategies. She integrates field and lab experiments (primarily on fish), and places her work in the context of anthropogenic climate change.

Anastassia

Anastassia is a graduate student working towards a Ph.D. in Biology. Her dissertation research is on the evolution of multimodal signaling in Sceloporus lizards, with a particular focus on space use and species recognition.

Gwendolyn GotschallGwendolyn Gotschall Gwen is a graduate student completing her MS degree in the 4+1 program. She is studying Sceloporus tristichus communication and sensory behavior.

Christina Palmrose-Krieger

Christina is a graduate student completing her MS degree in the 4+1 program. She is studying the relationships between insect diversity and abundance and the phylogeography of Sceloporus lizards. Learn more on her website
